Harvest Protocol
Terraform the rock. Feed the colony. Outlast the season.
The Lore
A colony ship made planetfall short of its target and now lives or dies on a world that is almost habitable. You are the appointed Steward, balancing the slow science of terraforming against the daily arithmetic of mouths to feed. Terra-Forma Labs grounds the fiction in scarcity and patience. The settlers have names, histories and breaking points, and the lore accretes through their requests rather than through exposition dumps.
The Mechanics
Two clocks run at once. The farming layer is tactile and forgiving, while the terraform layer is a long-horizon logistics puzzle where atmosphere, soil chemistry and power all feed back into what you can plant next. The standout is the Biome Cascade: every region you stabilize shifts the conditions of its neighbors, so optimization is regional rather than per-plot. Automation unlocks gradually, letting you graduate from hand-tending to designing self-sustaining supply chains.
Audiovisual Matrix
A warm but muted palette keeps long sessions easy on the eyes, with day-night terraform shifts rendered as gradual atmospheric color change rather than flashy spectacle. The score is ambient and unobtrusive, swelling only at season transitions. It is the gentlest-looking game on the slate and the calmest to sit inside.
Performance Diagnostic
Simulation scale is the stress test, and Harvest Protocol holds up well into the late game when hundreds of automated routines run at once. Tick rate stays consistent, with only occasional slowdown during full-colony save events. A robust autosave system keeps progress safe through the rare hiccup.
The Verdict
Harvest Protocol is a builder with a pulse. It scratches the optimization itch and the nurturing one at the same time, and almost nothing else manages both.
